About Me
I'm a literary scholar and historian of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. My research focuses on women’s literature and history across two strands: women, property and cultural heritage, and the legacies of Romantic literature in popular culture. I'm the author of Women and Property Ownership in Jane Austen (Peter Lang, 2022) and Reading the Romantic Ridiculous (Routledge 2024), co-written with Dr Andrew McInnes.
I'm currently a Research Foundation – Flanders (FWO) Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at Ghent University. As part of this fellowship, I'm working on my third book, The Heiress: Women, Property and Economics, 1780-1900. In a first-of-its-kind endeavor, this project uncovers the documented experiences of six British female estate and business owners and considers them alongside fictionalisations in the realist novel.
